Blogger 101: What You Did Not Know About Fashion Bloggers

It's no secret that a lot has been said about bloggers. Fashion bloggers, in particular, are at the receiving end of the worst of that. For one, we do showcase our bodies and outfits to the whole world. It takes a lot of guts and confidence to be able to do that... sadly, some people make light of it. After all, fashion blogging showcases two areas that a lot of people relegate as trivial and shallow pursuits: fashion and shopping.

However, not all fashion bloggers are the same. We are not walking billboards drumming up publicity for certain brands. There is a lot more to fashion blogging than meets the eye. 

We do have other careers aside from blogging!

This is probably the most common misconception that people have of fashion bloggers - women who freeload off of others and get items from various brands or sponsors. Sorry to break your bubble, but we're not. I do have a full time job and several contributing stints in some of the top beauty magazines online. I blog out of hobby... anything else that comes with it is a bonus!

We buy our own clothes!

Getting free items or samples for review is nice. But majority of the outfits and articles of clothing that I feature on the blog are purchased by me. I believe the same applies with most other fashion bloggers, too. 

We do have other interests aside from shopping and fashion!

Just because you see us talking about shopping and fashion all the time, that does not mean we don't have other interests. I like to share a bit of my personal life in the blog. However, that is not even close to 10% of what is really going on in my life. 

We don't always monetize our blogs!

Yes, there are a few sponsorship opportunities that come my way through this blog. But if there aren't any, it's not like I am going to stop blogging.

We're not models!

We don't shoot like fashion magazines do!

In order to distinguish myself as a fashion blogger, I try to focus on styles that reflect my everyday wear - things that I would actually wear in real life. Hence, I don't have a slipper or rubber shoes hidden somewhere that I quickly slip into once I finish shooting in high heels. What you see is what you get!

Ready for Summer

Nothing special with today's post. I am re-mixing this For Me sheer floral print top with my favorite cobalt midi skirt. I don't know about you but this look reminds me a lot about summer. In particular, I love to wear this particular outfit to the beach. There is something so casually breezy about the color coordinated look. 

You know I am so ready for summer when I can bare my tummy like that. Here is to hoping that my workout and boxing routine continues to kick my ass so I can achieve the shape I want.

Wishlist: Swimwear Edition

I have a confession to make: I am a sucker for cute swimwear. Think bandeau top, floral prints and mismatched bikini. I already have quite a few pairs in my closet but there is no such thing as enough when it comes to swimwear, right? Especially if you're like me who constantly prowls through the Victoria's Secret website looking for new styles. 

Pardon me if you feel like summer is still a long ways off from where you are in the world. In the Philippines, it is drawing closer and closer by the day. With the heat rising up, I can only think of one thing: beach! I just got a couple from Oasap and Sheinside but there is always room for one more (or two!).

L'Oreal Lucent Magique Skin Luminating Tri-Powder Foundation: Review

Until recently, I haven't paid much attention to the type of foundation I use. I simply use whatever I could find. But with more time spent on beauty blogging, I have come to realize the value of a good makeup base for a flattering makeup look. In addition, a good foundation can also help your makeup stay for several hours. I bought the Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation and consider it one of the best foundations I've tried to date. However, I set out looking for an alternative that I can use on a daily basis. And that is how I chanced upon the Lucent Magique Powder Foundation from L'Oreal. 

This is part of the Lucent Magique line of foundation from L'Oreal. However, the powder foundation is unique in that this is the first tri-tone skin illuminating foundation from the brand. It is also formulated with the brand's patented Liquid Light Technology that produces an illuminating and luminous effect on your skin. I personally loved the dewy finish of the foundation on my skin. And just like Max Factor's Miracle Touch foundation, it is not heavy on the skin. It comes with a natural and luminous finish that makes your skin look healthier and more glowing. As a bonus, the powder foundation offers a semi-matte finish, thanks to the Light Pearls Powder in the formula. 

This powder foundation has become my go-to foundation for daily use. It is perfect for creating a base for your day time makeup while also providing enough coverage for nighttime use. I cannot remember exactly how much I got it for but it was around PhP 600 or $15 (by the way, I got it on sale!). Feel free to check out your local beauty shop for this!

Airport Style

I'll admit - I bought this dress from Sheinside because it is in cobalt. This is one of my unique approaches to shopping. I shop based on color first and then style or cut second. I got doubly lucky on this dress as I loved both the color and the cut. It comes at a great price, too, so there was simply no way that I won't end up with this dress in my closet. 

My airport style is usually simple chic. Comfort is my main priority which is why I tend to wear jeans or leggings (even shorts) when traveling. Despite my love for travel, I always hate the hassle of going into airports. But when in Malaysia, I just had to don this dress. It was too cute not to wear. I paired it with my strappy sandals from CLN, which is one of my recent favorite buys. This is my first time to try this color combo but the outfit is comfortable as hell so I really couldn't complain much.
