October Roundup

I know this isn't technically the last day of October yet but I am ringing in November's arrival anyway. Can you tell that I love this time of the year? At the same time, I wanted to slow down the pace a bit and enjoy every moment as they come. Thus, I am taking the time to look back on my outfit posts and looks I've featured on the blog in the past month or so (a few from September, too). Be sure to look forward to more of them in the coming month.

Fash Love: Leather

I've been meaning to try wearing leather for a long time but unfortunately the weather here isn't ideal for this kind of fabric. However, I haven't given up on leather just yet, especially when I see adorable leather pieces that look effortlessly chic and edgy. If I can find the perfect piece, you might even see me sporting this on my blog soon.

In the meantime, I love getting inspiration from other fashion bloggers on how to rock leather pieces. But if I ever decide to make this investment, I need to find staple leather pieces that I can mix and match with a variety of other fashion pieces, too. Below are some of my leather must-haves:

 1) BB Dakota Branson Black Dress ($91) - I am a big, big fan of LBD! In fact, if I had to pick a dress that I could wear over and over again, I'd go for an LBD in a heartbeat! Thus, I gushed when I saw this leather piece on Lulu's website because it is simply stunning. The vegan leather provides an edgy vibe to the outfit while the texture of the fabric also gives it more character. Definitely a perfect dress for a nightout or cocktail parties!

2) Steve Madden Pointed Toe High Heel Booties ($ 149) - Oh yes, which girl does not dream of having booties? I specifically wanted to get ankle booties and when I saw these pointed high heeled ones, I was beyond excited! I wish it would magically appear in my shoe closet then I'd be much happier right now!

3) Black Vegan Leather Shorts ($ 40) - The banded waist and flattering high-waisted fit of these shorts are too hot to resist. Indeed, there is nothing like leather shorts to make a style statement if you're confident enough to bare your gams!

4) Black Leather Skinny Pants ($ 47) - Black and skinny are my two favorite things when it comes to pants. Certainly, you can't go wrong with this pick. Plus, it goes with anything!

Which of these leather pieces are your favorite/s?

My Week in Instagram

It seems like October just started and now we've only got about a week until November is here. Everything in my life (as probably with most of you are) has been sort of in a fast track. In fact, I've found myself stopping a couple of times in the past week checking in on the date because I can't keep up! I am trying to hold my excitement for November, too, because aside from the fact that there are plenty of big events coming up, I am also taking a huge step in my career that I am both excited and nervous about. For now, I am keeping my lips zipped on that.

This past week my mom also spent 7 days in the hospital. Pretty rough week, told 'ya. But she's recovering fast and hopefully will only get better by the day. I am everyday thankful for that.

To see a glimpse of my life lately, here are some updates from my Instagram account:

5.) I've been meaning to travel again this year. Sadly, this plan never panned out because we had been saving up for something more important. Thus, I took the time out to reminisce on one of my favorite getaways from two years ago when me and my high school friends got together as a friend who'd been living in Rhode Island returned home. Just looking at the photo, I feel the beach calling out to me. So bad.

4.) My nephew debuted at the drum and bugle club late last month and I was one proud aunt cheering him on! He has been passionate about playing the drums and so we supported him all the way. He did real good but looking oh-so-fine in his uniform, too!

3.) When you've been together for so long, you become so comfortable in each other's company that you prefer to stay at home and make less effort with trying to please each other. Thus, it never ceases to amaze me how he always make things extra special when he can. This photo was taken during our 6th year and 10th month celebration dinner.

2.) Last week, got a holiday from work and spent it by going shopping with my parents together with the niece and nephew. I figured it was also a great time to go on a lunch date with my family so I treated them for lunch at Mesa, a Filipino cuisine restaurant at SM Lanang Premier. The kids had so much fun together, they make my heart melt.

1.) One of my friends is leaving to work in another city. Although I was saddened by their departure (as it might be months until I'd see them again), I was glad that we got the opportunity to see each other and spend some QT before her departure. And what better way to catch up than over Japanese cuisine? Been meaning to try out this restaurant called Sankai, too, and glad that I finally had the chance!

their California maki was the best!!

Rose Pink

I will always have a weakness for feminine style. It's no wonder that I've hoarded floral prints and lace in my closet. They're my go-to choice all the time and haven't let me down!

Thus, when I picked up this new rose pink bandage skirt, I thought about pairing it with another equally delicate piece for a total girly look. This white lace top seemed like the perfect choice. I also accessorized with this beaded layered necklace, of which you've already seen me wear here. Love how the black beads popped against the white lace top. I also donned my black strap wedges to complete this look (sorry if it wasn't pictured as I totally forgot. duh).

I've also been fond of wearing dresses and skirts as of late. I love how they can make your whole outfit seem like you spent a lot of time preparing them when you actually didn't.

Are you a skirt kind of girl, too?

Cobalt & Coral

I hate cold weather. I have such a low tolerance for the cold that I'd always find myself longing for hot weather so I can go out, go swimming, or just do something that does not require me to be draped in thick jackets or blazers to fight off the biting cold. But with the changing season, I have found consolation in coping with the cold weather and keeping up with my style. I have to make do as I wait for the warm weather to come rushing in again.

I wore this cobalt blue tank top post-gym because I wanted something comfortable to wear. But my need to be comfortable defied logic as I quickly realized that it would be too cold to wear at night. Cold nights in the Philippines don't really get to below-zero, but still it is cold! Hence, my coral scarf came to the rescue! I quickly improvised my outfit so that I can wear the tank top that I wanted, not feel too cold, and still look chic!

How did I do with my improvisation?
