Classic MAC: Ruby Woo and Lady Danger

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for lipstick... especially red lipstick! I love a good ole' statement on your lips and I think none can achieve that better than red lips can. Hence, I am overjoyed to share with you today that I have finally added the two shades from the MAC matte lipstick range that I have coveted for the longest time: Lady Danger and Ruby Woo.

First off, Lady Danger is described on the MAC website as a "vivid bright coral-red in a matte finish". I have been looking for a good coral lipstick and while I've invested on Coral Crush from Maybelline and Scarlet from Ever Bilena, I'm still left yearning for something a bit more on the dark and reddish side. I want coral, not a bright orange. And Lady Danger is one of those that was recommended to me by my friends whom I've asked about for an orange-based red lipstick.

Meanwhile, Ruby Woo... do I have to explain it? You cannot properly call yourself a red lipstick fanatic until you wear Ruby Woo on your lips! Glad to finally make it official!

New Favorite Products: Home Edition

I'd like to take a break from the fashion and style posts for a while and share a few home decor updates. Technically, this isn't a home decor update but more of a roundup of new items that I have added as accent to my home - specifically, my bedroom vanity. We have a small space and so we had to improvise a lot with what we have to turn it into a comfortable space for us to live in. It's a work-in-progress but I love how it is turning out.

This Bride lidded box from Gift Boutique is one of my favorite additions to my vanity. This is a small porcelain container which I use to store my stud earrings in. I love that it is large enough to store my earrings but small enough not to take up too much space. It also comes in a pretty mint color (which coincidentally is also one of our wedding colors) and the Bride calligraphy on the cover for a personal touch.

This prism jewelry stand is another favorite new addition to my home decor, especially my vanity. This jewelry holder comes in a unique prism shape, which I use for storing my necklaces and earrings in. I love the matte brass finish that doubles as an accent to my room's interior decor.

This clear acrylic lipstick holder is the most recent buy of this batch. I needed a way to get my lipstick more organized rather than keeping them in my makeup bag all the time. I love that it is easier for me to pick the shade that I want, which will hopefully make it easier to get dressed up. I definitely need to buy a new one to cope with my growing lisptick collection. Right now, I've only placed my most favorite lipsticks.

Okay, I know this isn't related to home products but I just had to squeeze this in as it is a relatively new purchase (worn it only once since it arrived). I have been looking for a new wedge for a while now but wanted something with short heels. Most of the wedges that I found locally or online were at least 5 inches in height. I opted for shorter heels (this one was 1.5 inches in height) to wear with casual outfits and not hurt my feet in the process. This wedge sandals from Splendid was super comfortable on - first time I wore it, I had to walk around for 5 hours and did not feel a thing. Bonus - it's only $68!

What is your favorite new purchase?

IN2IT Intense Moisture Lipstick in Flame: Review

This is my second purchase of an IN2IT lipstick; the first item I have purchased was reviewed here. Thing is, I bought another red lipstick. Yes, a girl can never have enough lipstick... especially red lipstick. Even though I have a bias for matte lipsticks, I have also explored the use of gloss or intense moisture lipsticks (get 15% off with code ZBAPZD4H at Zalora) because they provide intense hydration for my lips.

This new one from IN2IT is something that I admittedly bought on a whim. I happened to drop by the cosmetics section of the mall and I did not walk out of there empty handed. There was a noticeable difference in the formula from the first lipstick I bought from this brand. I found it easier to apply. And it also lasts for a decent amount of time. It does not cause my lips to chap, too, which is always a good thing since I've had that issue for a long time.

The flaming red color is just perfect for me. It looks both glam and sexy, fit for night use too. I purchased it for P450 (approximately $11) so it's not a bad deal either. I would re-purchase it unless I could find a much better red lipstick.

Have you tried this shade yet? What were your thoughts? If you can recommend any other red lipsticks worth a try, I'd love to hear about them in the comments section!

MAC Craving: Review

A burst of plum. This is how MAC Craving is described on MAC's website. And I can hardly argue with that. For the most part of December 2014, I was seeing a lot of beauty bloggers showcasing all kinds of fall lipstick shades and I was quite envious because I wanted to give the plum shade a try but not sure if it would fit into my usual style (I am best known for my red and pink lipstick!). But I finally caved in to my curiosity... I added MAC Craving to my growing lipstick collection.

What is to love about MAC Craving?

This shade is raved about by bloggers as the perfect shade for fall or winter. But even though we don't have winter here, I decided to purchase this anyway given that I have long been wanting to try out a plum lipstick. I decided to go with Craving because beauty experts suggested giving this shade a try if you are testing the waters with plum lipstick shades and not daring enough to go for a deep berry shade right away.

MAC Craving belongs in the Amplified Creme finish line that offers a creamy texture when applied on the lips. There is a subtle gloss to the finish. If you want to use this lipstick for evening wear, you can definitely try adding a few more swatches to achieve that dark plum color

Since this isn't a matte finish, Craving does not last very long although it offers enough staying power (good for about 4 hours, based on my experience). But even when they fade away, it leaves that soft stain on your lips that gives it a natural looking blush on your lips.

If you're too scared to jump onto plum lipstick shades right away, I suggest you try MAC Craving first!

Beauty Craving: Lipsticks

Since I bought my first red lipstick, I have enjoyed the process of using makeup (lipstick, specifically) to complement my outfit. I never realized how much a specific lip color can add that "little something" to your look. Eventually, I ventured into trying out different shades (outside of red and pink) and I see my lipstick collection growing by the day. And yet, I can't stop! Here are some other lipstick shades that I am particularly eyeing to add to my lipstick stash for future use.

MAC Craving

I've been looking for beautiful plum shades and this is one in particular that I've set my eyes on. It is plum but with hints of pink. It is an amplified creme finish so it also got a subtle shine to it.

Maybelline Bit of Berry

In my search for plum lip shades, I also came across Bit of Berry from Maybelline. It is close to MAC Craving, no wonder why these two are often compared next to each other. However, this shade from Maybelline is more pink than Craving is. It is part of the Color Sensational line from Maybelline.

MAC Candy Apple

Okay, another plumful shade. This one though comes with a midtonal warm plum, perfect for the cold weather ahead. It is part of MAC's So Supreme lipstick collection. Therefore, the lipstick formula is moisturising and with a sheen designed to give a flash of glow to your lips.

MAC Relentlessly Red

This is part of the Retro Matte lipstick collection from MAC, as inspired by its most famous red shade - Ruby Woo. As a big fan of matte lipstick, I cannot wait to sample this particular shade. It comes with a cool undertone to give more eye-catching effect to the lip color.

Revlon Lover's Coral

MAC Sunny Seoul

The creamy and warm pink color from Sunny Seoul tug at my heart, making this lip shade a part of my must-have lipsticks. This color might work best on light skin tones, though, because the shade is very ethereal that it verges on the line of pastel. It is also a perfect lip color to wear for day look.

L'Oreal Plum Passion

Dubbed as the "party shade", this dark plum lip color is a dream. I can envision myself wearing this with a party dress this upcoming holiday.

Have you tried any of these lipstick shades? I'd love to hear your review - be sure to leave your links in the comment section so I can check them out. xo
