The Prettiest Summer Dresses That Are NOT Floral

Dresses for summer is like floral - it isn't revolutionary. But while it is non-trend setting, it is a go-to for a lot of women like myself. I rely on dresses for those hot summer days wherein I simply want to put on a dress and go! With the right choice of dress, you can look effortlessly chic too! But if you are not particularly fond of wearing floral dresses for summer, don't despair. Floral is NOT your only option. There are far more choices than you think such as the ones that I have turned to for years.

Eyelet/Crochet

Eyelet dresses are emerging as the new floral for spring/summer. And I couldn't be more excited about that. Take this eyelet/crochet dress that I sported a few weeks back for example. I dubbed it as my go-to summer dress because its simplicity belies the style statement it can make. At the same time, eyelet is such a breathable fabric that won't make you break a sweat even on the hottest summer days.

Chambray

When temperatures go up, you just want to put on something that is comfortable without looking drab. Chambray ticks all the right boxes when it comes to your summer dress collection, making it a must-have! In my opinion, every woman should have at least one chambray dress in her wardrobe. There is also a plethora of styles available so finding one that reflects your personal style shouldn't be difficult.

Stripes

There is no right or wrong way to wear stripes. And more importantly, there is no such thing as the best season to wear stripes. Stripes are suited for all seasons! And they are especially chic and classy for summer, particularly when it's blue and white stripes!

Tie Dye

If I would have done this list about 3 years ago, there is no way I would've included tie dye on this list. But since I got my first tie dye dress, I've come to appreciate this print for summer. The trick is in finding the right color combination. Some tie dye prints are more elevated, such as the one I'm wearing here. But you can also find vibrantly colored ones that reflect the true hippie-boho style that inspired it.

Chambray for Spring

OUTFIT DETAILS
Dress (c/o) / Bag (c/o) / Watch (c/o) / Earrings (c/o) / Shoes (c/o)

Chambray for spring is not a fashion breakthrough, just like floral is. But they are called staples for a reason. Hence, I am excited to share this look because it showcases the quintessential spring/summer vibe that I have always striven for. I have had a few chambray dresses over the years but this is undoubtedly my favorite yet. Find out why below...

OUTFIT DETAILS
Dress (c/o Chicwish) / Bag (c/o) / Watch (c/o) / Shoes (c/o) / Earrings (c/o)

If there is anything that I like equally as chambray, it's the small but unique details that make a simple piece stand out. In this case, the cut-out and bow tie front combine to make a feminine dress look extra cute but not in a cheesy way. I've always loved pairing feminine pieces together but with this one, the dress is all you need to create a decidedly feminine look because of the cutout front and that bow.

The front placement of the button makes it super easy to put on this dress too. And as you can see from one of my photos, the back is also stretchable so it has quite a forgiving fit. Yet another reason to love Chicwish - this dress is a masterpiece in its simplicity. You can get yours for less than $51!

If you are looking for other chambray pieces to add to your spring wardrobe, here are some of my picks from Chicwish:

Do you like wearing chambray for spring and summer too?

Weekend Escape

Whenever I'm headed to a weekend travel (or even a sleepover), I used to over-pack! No, let me correct that, I over-pack wherever I go. I like to have one or two extra outfits, just in case. But I am slowly learning the art of packing smart (although I still have a long way to go!). Packing essential items like a maxi dress, flats, and basic tees I can mix and match is going to ease up my packing woes.

Dress: Shein
Denim Shirt: Shein
Bag: Herschel (other duffel bag options here
Flats: AMI Clubwear (c/o)

With a weekend getaway in sight, I have decided to come up with this look. A maxi dress is always an essential in my book, especially for chic travel outfits. Therefore, I decided to top it with this denim shirt from Shein to make the outfit look effortless chic without compromising comfort. My new duffel bag from Herschel also makes for the ideal weekend getaway bag! It might not look big enough for a getaway but it is quite roomy on the inside. Therefore, I am totally in love with it because I hate having to lug around a huge bag - not stylish at all! Sadly, this color has sold out but you can find more travel bags from Herschel here
