Classic MAC: Ruby Woo and Lady Danger

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for lipstick... especially red lipstick! I love a good ole' statement on your lips and I think none can achieve that better than red lips can. Hence, I am overjoyed to share with you today that I have finally added the two shades from the MAC matte lipstick range that I have coveted for the longest time: Lady Danger and Ruby Woo. 

First off, Lady Danger is described on the MAC website as a "vivid bright coral-red in a matte finish". I have been looking for a good coral lipstick and while I've invested on Coral Crush from Maybelline and Scarlet from Ever Bilena, I'm still left yearning for something a bit more on the dark and reddish side. I want coral, not a bright orange. And Lady Danger is one of those that was recommended to me by my friends whom I've asked about for an orange-based red lipstick.

Meanwhile, Ruby Woo... do I have to explain it? You cannot properly call yourself a red lipstick fanatic until you wear Ruby Woo on your lips! Glad to finally make it official!

Save or Splurge: Flare Jeans

If you've spent the past few years religiously living in your skinny jeans, you're not the only one. I know I've lived in mine for more almost a decade now. I profess to how simple they are to style and make a simple outfit look chic (with the right pair of shoes, of course!). I simply cannot live without a pair of skinny jeans. But there is one trend that has caught my eye because of its flair for style. Since I've talked about the resurgence of choker necklaces (a retro trend), I've been delving into other fashion trends that have also been revived. And one of them is flare jeans. In fact, I've seen it widely showcased by fashion bloggers across the blogosphere. It seems that they have become really popular with fashion bloggers!

Although I am not ready to give them a try yet, I would not close my door on the idea. I love how it does elongate the legs, though. If you feel the same way about flare jeans like I do, these great pieces I found online will hopefully incite your curiosity about this returning trend. I loved the first Wifey top I got from Shein so much that I got this V-neck tee version too. It came out perfectly and the fabric is comfy as can be. In the same week, I also got the latest package from Shein with this plaid pants. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when placing my order. I've never tried buying pants from Shein before and I've always read reviews of the pants sizing being too small. I opted for the plaid print because it has that classic touch to it despite being somewhat of a trendy piece.

I decided to wear the pants with my new Wifey tee. It is a casual and corporate chic look, especially since I've paired it with my red pumps from Steve Madden. The pants look amazing, but not without some minor issues in terms of sewing quality. Other than that, I was pretty impressed with the type of fabric and love how it feels worn. 

Style Tip: And now for the style tip, you can wear plaid pants like I did here. Wear one piece of plaid at a time to keep your outfit from looking overwhelmingly busy. As you can see here, I opted for a solid colored top so the plaid pants become the focal piece of the outfit. Another tip that you can incorporate is to choose a piece of clothing within the same color palette as the plaid piece you are wearing. In this case, I paired the black and white pants with a dark blue (almost black from afar) to provide symmetry with the color scheme.

Plaid Perfection

There are many ways to wear plaid and the advent of various plaid styles only opened up more styling possibilities. This dress... I don't even know where to start. I've had this on my wishlist for so long and to finally get it and to see just how beautiful it is, I was more than elated. I do have the tendency to get turned off when I see items that are styled by way too many bloggers. But with this one, I just couldn't resist the temptation. I've also been into wrap dresses a lot lately so it was a no-brainer when I scratched this off my wishlist.

I did not want to overdo when styling this dress because I think the dress makes the statement for itself. The layered gold necklace from Shein added the right hint of glam while the gladiator sandals added contrast by infusing some edge to the whole outfit. These sandals would definitely work great with the dress for everyday wear but I can also wear the dress with a dressier pair of shoes for a more glam outfit. That's something to consider for another style inspiration post in the future. As if you need more coaxing to get this dress from Shein, it's available for less than $21!

Living in Color

Accessories add that element of fun to your outfit. It can be a source of texture, a pop of color or some kind of contrast that elevates the look. One of my favorite ways to use accessories for an accent in an outfit is to introduce color. If you don't like vibrant outfits, you can keep your ensemble monochromatic and then simply add a bright pair of earrings or necklace to integrate color into the look. It is bold but subtle, daring but contrived.
