Pencil Skirt Style

Pencil skirts are my new favorites. When I don't feel like wearing a dress, I usually turn to them as an alternative. The silhouette it creates make any outfit look ultra feminine (which is why I love them). But if you are not confident with your body, it can be a bit intimidating to wear them. Thus, I am sharing this look to inspire you how to wear pencil skirt and give you a few more ideas. Read more about them below...

First things first... pencil skirts are universally flattering. You need to get rid of the idea that it only works for certain body types. The simple lines and classic shape allows you to experiment with a wide range of pairing. The simplest and most classic option is to pair it with a classic white tee. If you're wearing a patterned or bold printed pencil skirt, tone the top down with a white or neutral colored tee. This will make your legs decidedly feminine and also draw more attention to your skirt.

If you are wearing a bold colored pencil skirt, you can go for something bold up-top. Say, a graphic print crop top or sweater. A pair of statement heels can also add some edge to the look while also making your legs look extra long. For evening wear, a dressed up top layered with blazer is a good way to style a pencil skirt.

Your options are endless when it comes to styling a pencil skirt. If you want for a casual but polished look, you can pair it with a simple top and a classic pair of heels, just like I did here.

Leopard Obsession

When it comes to exotic prints, leopard is undoubtedly the most popular choice for women. In fact, it is seen styled in a variety of ways - as a focal or accent piece. Its versatility has proven itself over the years, which also speaks for how it has endured the fashion world despite other trendy patterns making its way into the market. I, for one, can attest to this as I was once scared of trying leopard print. But when I first did, I fell in love with it seeing how easy it is to wear and style into an outfit without being too brazen or looking trashy whatsoever.

I got this leopard print shoes from FSJShoes this month and I was psyched when I got it in the mail. For only $45, this pair is a lovely addition to my shoe collection. I already have a few styling ideas for this one, so do wait up for my styled post about that coming soon to the blog!

Crushing on Pastels

OUTFIT DETAILS

Pastels are a welcome change to signal the start of a new (hopefully) warmer season. There is something about sherbet-colored hues that inspires creative and energetic mood. Pastel is a happy hue for me. When I want to feel good and warm, I reach out to any pastel shade in my wardrobe and it does the trick every single time. Whether or not you feel the same way, you cannot deny that soft hues are a classic spring/summer staple. It might look trendy but it has a timeless appeal that will enable you to wear your pastel pieces year after year.

So... how do you wear pastel? My favorite way is with mixed pastels, just like I had done here. I take more than one pastel piece and wear them together. In this case, the blush top, mint watch and the powder blue tote complement each other for a soft yet bold look.

If you want something more bold than my take on pastels, you can go monochrome with your outfit. You can wear the same color palette together. My favorite idea is to wear a risque crop top with a wide leg pant or high waisted pencil skirt.

If you want to stay on the classic route, though, you can also get some hint with my look today: wear it with neutrals. In this case, I opted for a black ripped denim jeans to go with my blush top and a neutral toned pumps. This will highlight the pastel hues and make them more noticeable.

Lastly, you can pair pastels with brights (just like I've done here too with a pair of bright earrings). This will provide a contrast by adding edge to the soft pastels.

What is your favorite way to wear pastel?

Love All Things Glitter

Adding a hint of glitter to an outfit always make it stand out. Not only does it add texture, but also some color and shine. In the past, glitters and sequins can only be associated with special occasions wear. But not anymore... you can find several pieces of clothing or accessories that incorporate the use of glitter for a touch of glam or feminine details to an outfit.

Kate Spade iPhone Case / Star Studded Gold Clutch / Sparkling Pink Earrings / Furla Glitter Coin Purse / Shein Sequin Mini Skirt / Kate Spade Classic Bow Belt / NCLA Sparkle & Shine Nail Lacquer / Kate Spade Glitter Water Bottle

Wearing glitter requires knowing how to edit yourself, though. A little sequin or glitter is fun but too much of it can look tacky. Hence, if this is your first time to try wearing glitter, I recommend using it as an accent piece or using glitter accessories such as glitter clutch or shoes. Do not go all the way to wearing a sequin skirt or dress yet. Once you are comfortable enough with it and think that it would complement your skin tone, you can go for a more statement piece such as a glitter or sequin dress.

What other tips can you add to wearing glitter?
