June Remix: Bohemian

The skort trend has slowly fizzled out. But I am not one to be rattled by that. This is not the first time that I've worn something even when it is out of trend, so to speak. After all, I do not waste my money on trendy items unless I am really into them. That way, I can still get to wear those pieces even when they are past their trend prime.

I decided to go for a slightly bohemian feel to my look by pairing the skort with my oversized peasant top. I just love how this outfit feels so comfortable - that has been my emphasis in most of my outfits that I had featured on the blog. I wouldn't compromise it for anything.

What about you? Have you gotten over the skort trend? Or you never hopped onto the bandwagon in the first place? Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Xo

Life Lately: Instagram & Pinterest

What a week that was! Can you believe June is over? I can't either! This year has been quite a thrill for me... one surprise followed by another. Several opportunities came my way, too, that it is only fitting that I stop, reflect and be thankful for the days gone. Allow me to share with you my favorite memories recently as seen through my Instagram account (you can connect with me @abj_castro)

#1 - June started off with me receiving a lovely package from Persunmall. My order has arrived sooner than expected. And of course, I styled my new items as featured on this post

#2 - Celebrated my niece's 4th birthday. Kids grow up so fast! I can't believe she is 4 already!!

#3 - Yes, I do selfies now. Moving on...

#4 - Finally got my own shirt from Hiraya Minokawa. It is a custom made shirt from their dragon boat team and the boyf ordered a shirt for me, although technically these shirts are only for members of the team. I could only wish...

#5 - Pool time on a weekday is a priceless gift.

#6 - Finally got to visit my alma mater - University of the Philippines in Mindanao.

Meanwhile, here are some inspiration and/or wisdom that I'd like to share with you. Pinterest is such an addictive place to be in. Seriously, I could spend hours to no end just pinning these lovely quotes. I hope these would enlighten your day. And oh, make my day too by following me on my Pinterest account here. Happy pinning!

...and lastly:

How's your week doing so far?

Pastel Picks from Front Row Shop

Discovering about new fashion retailers online is like discovering a hidden gem. For us savvy shoppers, we like to have more options! Thus, I was thrilled when I found out about a shop called Front Row Shop because it gives me the opportunity to try out new designs. Front Row Shop, however, is not a newbie to the business. In fact, the company has been around for over 10 years specializing in fabric purchasing and clothes manufacturing. The site is all about providing trendy and fashionable clothes for women at a tempting price. Hence, you can expect to find streamlined designs that are unique to the store.

Left to Right: Long Sleeve Top in Purple | Lace Mini Skirt with Pleats | Peplum Top
Left to Right: Floral Print Dress | Smock Dress with Pleats
These pastel items are among the newest addition into the vast collection available on-site. The color, paired with the cut and accents, provide a delicate touch to any look. Hence, it was hard not to notice these designs for someone like me who appreciates feminine style.

Do you like to wear pastels? Which of these items are you eyeing on?

Floral with an Edge

Floral dresses are a pretty common sight in my closet. Not that I ever get bored wearing floral but I like finding new ways to wear them. It is like getting a brand new item altogether. This red floral dress was a gift from the boyf. It has been with me for almost three years now. But it remains a favorite, especially during summer when I am looking for loose, comfortable dresses to wear. On top of the frilly details around the neck and hemline, the floral prints make it a totally girly look.

A simple addition of a cropped denim vest added a bit of edge to this look. I wanted to veer away from an ultra feminine look (which was the natural vibe of the dress itself) so I thought the vest was the perfect accessory. I have been wearing this denim vest a lot lately because it has proven to be of versatile use. I like to wear it with a spaghetti or tank top on jeans or leggings, or with dresses. It is such a good buy!

How do you style your denim vest? Do you like to wear it with dresses like I do?
