5 Spring Trends to Master

Spring is a beautiful time of the year. Even though we don't have spring here in the Philippines, I have made a habit out of looking closely at spring trends because they are suited for our tropical climate. Spring pieces are light, easy to wear and could be easily transitioned for day-to-night wear. This year, I have been paying particular attention to new trends because the hubby and I are planning a Southeast Asian trip sometime in the summer. These light spring pieces are definitely going to serve me well when I take on the tropical weather in these destinations. Fingers crossed.

Fishtail Madness

For my wedding, I wore a fishtail strapless lace gown. My love for the fishtail is attributed to the fact that it helps to accentuate your curves and really define the silhouette. I have long been on the hunt for the perfect fishtail skirt (I always like to find one or two pieces to invest in rather than buying whatever I see) and this burgundy one is well worth the wait.

Skirt: Oasap
Shoes: Payless
Bag: AMIClubwear

Watch: JORD (c/o)
Earrings: Soufeel

In case you are curious, I got this burgundy fishtail skirt from Oasap. At it's price ($15), it is more than just a great deal - it's a steal! The skirt is made from a stretchy knit fabric that is both comfortable and has a forgiving fit. I paired it with the Three Dots cabana stripe top that I've also previously featured here on my nautical wishlist. I got it on major sale too for only $24, which was excellent timing as I had been on the hunt for a new striped top. You can never have too many stripes, right?

Lace-Up: Yay or Nay?

Cheap Prom Dresses

When browsing online shops, I can't help but notice this particular trend that is seen everywhere and even in the blogosphere: lace-up tops and dresses. Let me break it down for you: tops or dresses with plunging neckline styles and closed with a lace-up fabric. It is a simple detail but packs a major punch. This trend isn't seen only in cheap clothing stores - they've dominated the runways last year. I am a little bit on the fence with this one. I tend to shy away from anything with plunging necklines. But I cannot help but adore these items featuring the latest hot trend in fashion:

Left to Right: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
Left to Right: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

What do you think of this trend: is it a yay or nay?

Spring Styles with Farfetch & 2016 Pantone Colors

It's officially spring time! Even though it has been sizzling hot here in the Philippines since the onset of 2016, I still look forward to spring because this means new collections and launches from my favorite online shops will start rolling in. Today, I have partnered with Farfetch to bring you three style ideas that you can re-create via their Spring/Summer 2016 collection using the pantone colours of the year: rose quartz and serenity.

Simple and Casual

Shourouk Beaded Tassel Earrings / Maison Margiela Eyelet Bucket Bag / Fendi Floral Pleated Hem Dress / Sophia Webster Ruffled Flat Sandals
A light and easy dress is a must-have for spring/summer for me. When it's floral too, it's a bonus! You can dress up the look by adding a statement accessory or too, such as tassel earrings or tassel or strappy sandals. You can wear this outfit for a downtown stroll or a day of retail shopping with girlfriends!

Cool and Classy

Alexander McQueen De Manta Tote / Gianni Renzi Stiletto Mules / Moschino Frayed Tweed Dress / Larsson Jennings Watch
When you need to go on a spring date night or a semi-formal occasion, you can still wear the pantone colors of the year. A simple dress with a little trendy flair and some bright accessories can make your outfit shine through.

Style tip: Keep the outfit balanced with the right mix of classic and trendy accessories.

Preppy and Chic

Daizy Shely Checked Sleeveless Shirt / Victoria Beckham Round Frame Sunglasses / RTA Prince Pants / Aquazurra Wild Things Sandals / Alexander Wang Lia Sling Crossbody Bag

A pair of white pants is a must-have in your spring wardrobe. This closet spring staple opens up a limitless array of styling possibilities. But to incorporate the pantone colors to your outfit, you can pair this gingham top with more touches of rose quartz by tossing in a few other accessories. You can play with the style rules here; don't be afraid to add in more than one color into your outfit. It's spring after all!

What is your favorite way to incorporate the pantone colors to your outfit?

Unofficial Guide to Spring Skirts

I don't know about you but I think of skirts when I want to create an effortless style. There is a subtle cross between casual and feminine style that I really love. With the warmer weather, there is an added incentive of skirts helping you stay cool and stylish. But what is the right skirt to wear for spring/summer? Check out some of the top coveted skirts for spring so you can be inspired to create your warm weather style:

Tassel Skirt / Blush Lace Skirt
Print Ruffled Skirt / Tribal-Inspired Print Skirt
Floral Mini Skirt / Contemporary Stripe Skirt
Mustard Maxi Skirt / Amber Pleated A-Line Skirt
Ripped Button Up Denim Pencil Skirt / Solid Denim Skirt

As you can see, pencil skirts and maxi skirts are a coveted piece for me. But I'd like to hear your thoughts - which of these skirts define your ideal spring style?

Palm Prints

Palm prints, like floral, have an almost synonymous effect with summer. Lucky for me, the weather where I live almost feels like summer all year round. Thus, I cannot turn down this gorgeous dress when I saw it on the Shein website. The palm prints and the vibrant orange color were a beautiful combo. I do not usually go for orange when shopping but this was one of those few exceptions. It has cut-out details on the side, too, which looks like a lot of fun.

Dress: Shein (sold out - similar, similar)
Watch: Michael Kors
Shoes: Mendrez (similar)
Clutch: old (similar, similar)

A few tips when shopping this dress though: the fabric has no stretch. I was lucky that I chose the right size because the dress fits me like a glove. I got it in medium (my heart sank a bit to say that). If I would have gotten a small, I don’t think I’d be able to wear it at all. If I would have gotten a large, it might be too baggy. The medium was the perfect fit for me. I suggest you should take your own measurements and compare it with the sizing chart at Shein in the actual product page. The sizing can differ with each product; this means you might measure small for one product and measure medium for another.

Overall, very pleased with this dress. I dressed it up with my Michael Kors watch, nude heels and black clutch. I’m so excited to wear it for a tropical vacation and dress it down for the beach!

How would you wear this dress? Are you a fan of palm prints?
