Shopping My Own Closet

When it comes to shopping, I'm as impulsive as one can get. I walk into a shop and spot something then I would be happily walking out of the shop with my new top or dress. Sometimes, I even stop to think if it's becoming an unhealthy habit for me. As an adult, as I would like to consider myself now, I feel like I should be more responsible about how I spend my money. The boyf and I are already in the stage of building our own home so being wise about how I spend my money is a vital attribute to have.

Thankfully, those years of impulse shopping in the past won't go for naught. I've made it a habit to keep checking my closet from time to time for items that I haven't worn for a year or two. My mom recently suggested that I put them out for a garage sale, but I did not want to end up selling items that I might still want to wear down the road. After all, these were items that I coveted at some point!

Here is another haul from my own closet. This lilac ruffled top was bought online and used to be a favorite. But when I kept adding new stuffs to my closet, it seems to have been forgotten - tucked somewhere in my closet, hidden from view. So when I stumbled onto it while rummaging through my "old" clothes, I thought of a great idea to style it with my blue lace skirt.

How do you reinvent old items off your closet?

  1. You sound just like me when it comes to shopping! lol. I always like to revisit old clothing I used to once love. I think it's a great way to remind myself that I don't have to buy new clothing all the time to look good.

You look fabulous in this outfit, btw! :)

  3. Haha that's so funny, I actually have the opposite problem! I usually clutch on to something that I think I like for dear life, walk around the store numerous times thinking about if I truly like it or not, but then find some sort of justification to either get it or put it back. It can get frustrating at times. I really like the concept of shopping in your own closet, because if you think about it... it's like your own personalized clothing store! I also love it when you rediscover something you haven't worn for a really long time.
You look lovely in these pictures! thanks for sharing!

  5. Hahaha,I´m so like you! That´s why I do the spring cleaning twice a year to get rid of stuff that I don´t wear any more. It´s pretty hard to give them away because I´m attached to my things, but it´s liberating to be finally free of them, lol. Cute skirt by the way! :)

  6. I often have to remind myself that I need to shop in my own closet! I have sooooo many clothes and really could go a very, very long time without wearing the exact same outfit. Love this skirt!

  22. Good for you!! I love doing this and try to wear the item slightly different so it doesn't look like I'm wearing the same outfit but sometimes it's hard. So much cheaper than getting something new though. Thank you so much for linking up again!
