Life Lately: Birthday Edition

How was your weekend guys? I loved mine because I had a simple yet meaningful celebration of two important events in my life - 7th anniversary with my man and my birthday. Despite some tragic events that happened this past week, I was still in good spirits heading into the weekend's events. It turned out to be more amazing and fun than I had imagined. I'd like to share with you a glimpse of those events that got me busy and off of the blogging world for a little bit.

5.) On the eve of our 7th anniversary, the boyf and I went on a  dinner date at Rego's Cafe. We would've wanted to catch a movie, Catching Fire, but the cinema was way too packed. I always had this pet peeve of not wanting to sit next to a stranger inside the cinema. Hence, we skipped it and had a simple dinner instead. Nothing beats having his accompany all to myself!

4.) For the actual day of our anniversary, we headed over to Eden Nature Park & Resort for an escape. It's a bit far from the city - approximately 45 minutes to an hour travel time - but it was worth it. We've been here a couple of times in the past but we still opted for the place since we wanted an escape. This was the perfect setting to relax and reflect.

3.) Conquering the Skycycle experience! I had never been so scared my entire life than I was last weekend trying out this extreme ride! I had to traverse about 250 meters of rope while bicycling in the air (we were about 5-storey high from the ground!). As soon as I got back on the platform during my second round at the bike, I literally screamed - "I'm alive!". Then again, I was proud I did (and survived) it!

2.) Birthday with the family. Whenever it's my birthday, there are no better set of people that I would love to spend it with than my family. They're my no. 1. This year, we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant (also a fave spot!) called Rai Rai Ken. When we're done finishing the grocery, we headed home and prepared something for dinner just for the family. And of course, my now-social media savvy dad even managed to leave me an adorable greeting on my Facebook wall. Isn't he the sweetest? We happened to be still up at midnight on the even of my birthday and he sent me a personal greeting and the tightest hug I've had in a long while.

1.) New memories made. The best thing about celebrating back-to-back anniversary and birthday? I have a chockful of memories to cherish over the weekend celebration! As soon as the weekend was over, the boyf looked over to me and whispered, "Thanks for the new memories. Let's make new ones again!" And yes we will!

How was your weekend?
