How to Style: Denim Overall

Dress (worn as top): Shein
Denim Overall: Sammydress (c/o)
Tote: Herschel
Sneakers: Converse
Watch: JORD (c/o)
Earrings: Kenneth Jay Lane

This denim overall outfit post is a long time coming. Since I've seen denim overalls pop up in various online shops, I knew that I had to try my hands on this trend. Since I am shopping for items to bring with me to an upcoming vacation, I saw this as an opportune moment to get my first denim overall as I deem it would be comfortable to wear during my travel.

When I got this denim overall from Sammydress, I knew I wanted to style it with a casual look. Denim and Converse is a no-brainer. This combo is just so easy and effortless, especially during travel. The top that I layered the denim overall with is actually a dress. I haven't worn this in a long time and I wanted to make use of it. It was fun and therapeutic at the same time to do a bit of digging through my closet. I think I need to do that more, especially since denim overalls are so versatile and there are so many tops that I can think of wearing it with.

I would love to showcase another way to style this denim overall. I'd love to get your insights and tips on how to dress it up?

Blogger 101: How to Support Other Bloggers

source unknown

Whoever said or thought that blogging is a competition is dead wrong. I might sound hypocritical but never did I ever feel like I had to compete with any blogger. I guess I am lucky to be able to get that kind of perspective; after all, it was primarily after reading a fashion blogger that I got inspired to start my own so maybe that is where most of the feeling is from (and I am so glad I have retained that kind of feeling about this whole fashion blogging venture). As I said in my previous Blogging 101 post on Fashion Blog Opportunities, I think most of the blog jealousy and competition springs from the sense of having to compete with other bloggers for these opportunities. But I beg you, don't. The world wide web and fashion industry combine to offer an endless array of opportunities for everyone. You might not get the same opportunities or collaborations that one blogger is having, yet you also have your own set of collaborations that they don't have (and maybe even dream of having).

I would like to steer this conversation towards a more positive light - let's all show support towards our fellow bloggers. Here are some of the ideas I've thought of:

Talk About Them in Your Blog

I used to do a segment here in my blog called "Style Crush" (you can see my latest installment here). From reading fashion blogs every week, there are a few looks that stand out in my mind and I get so inspired by, which is how I come up with the list of bloggers to feature in this series. There are several other ways you can share the love on your blog and help your fellow blogger gain exposure. One of the fun things I was able to take out from doing this series is when other bloggers leave a comment saying they've never heard of the bloggers I've featured and are excited to read more from them, which is exactly the whole point of doing the post in the first place.

Read Their Blogs (and Comment)

This is the easiest way to show support for other bloggers and I do this often. Every day, I read about 10-20 blogs on my free time (or I try to squeeze it into my schedule). It is fun and a great way to immerse into the blogging community, or meet blogging friends!

Join Their Linkups

source unknown

I do have a few bloggers hosting linkups that I regularly join in. Again, like blog commenting, this is a great way to become involved in the blogging community. You can see the full list of linkups I join in regularly here

Share Their Content

If you liked a blog post that another blogger wrote, share it on your social media accounts. Or, you can also re-tweet or share their other posts. If you find something of value to you and to your own followers, this is a worthwhile move. It is also a great way to capture the other blogger's attention and they would be more than happy to reciprocate. Just don't forget to mention them when sharing your post!

Buy Stuff They Blog About

Contrary to what is being written about fashion bloggers (maybe it could be true for select bloggers), but we don't earn six-figure income from our blogs. Most of us, like me, do this for a hobby only and any other earnings are considered a bonus. Therefore, it is a good way to show support to your favorite blogs to buy through their affiliate links, especially if you intend to buy the items they featured anyway. You are still going to get the item you intended to buy and help out a blogger in return!

In this world where the comparison game is as strong as ever, it is your turn to change the tides. We all need cheerleaders. But before you can get a cheerleader, we have to become a cheerleader first.

How do you support your favorite bloggers?

Style Crush: Blogger Faves #7

It's back! I don't know if any of you followed my style crush series when I launched it but the whole premise was to feature my favorite looks from fashion bloggers from all over the world. I haven't done this in a long while because I had ton of new ideas coming in that I wanted to work with on my blog. Somehow, it got lost in the equation and haven't been able to do it as regularly as I liked. Since I am still actively participating in linkups, I never ceased to witness the amazing styles of bloggers, though.

Hence, I am reviving the series with a bang! Instead of featuring my usual 5 blogger favorites, I am featuring 10 of my favorites. See them below:

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

You can visit the link to see the outfit posts. I am sorry in advance for the fashion overdose -- NOT!

Which of these looks are you loving?

Style Crush: Blogger Faves #6

I'm back! This week has been very stylish in the fashion blogosphere it seems like every new outfit I see is a favorite. Then again, it's such a fun hobby to check out new looks that I can (hopefully) try, too. Thank you ladies for the inspiration!

Meanwhile, here are the top five looks that I've seen over the past week or so. A couple of these ladies I've stumbled onto just recently. But I've been a regular reader of Lauren's blog Explore My Style. I mean, if you had the chance to visit her blog, I'm sure you'd be hooked too. Jessica of Afternoon Style is also a long time favorite. Her style is the epitome of simple sophistication.

The three other bloggers I've featured here (Kristin, Kimberly, Christina) are new blogger favorites. I've known most of them through the linkups I've joined in and I would recommend that you join in, too, because you will have lots of opportunities to meet new blogger friends and be inspired at the same time!

Style Crush: Blogger Faves #5

My fashion love list continues to grow by the day... my love for lace, floral and sheer are probably notable because most of the outfits I feature here in the blog (and those in my closet) are made of these fabrics! But thanks to our ever stylish fashion blogger friends, I can proudly say that my choices have expanded and now more open to trying out different fabrics and patterns. However, you can't help but feel impressed when you see other bloggers don basic pieces and turn them into head-turning ensembles. A simple top paired with the right skirt or jeans, or adding a small touch of detail i.e. a necklace or blazer perhaps, can do wonders to any look!

Below are some of my newest style inspirations. Deanne and Kacie are just some of those bloggers that I'd been following for a long time and whose styles I adore to the hilt. But Karly Kim, Liz, and Ashley are some of the new bloggers that I've discovered who quickly turned me into a fan with their styles that are uniquely theirs.

Which is your favorite in this week's picks?

Style Crush: Blogger Faves #4

It's back! I know, I missed it too. Life happened and I decided to enjoy it... but that does not mean that I stopped looking around various fashion blog sites to check out their gorgeous outfits! In fact, here is another around of my fashion blogger favorites showcasing drool-worthy ensembles.

I don't have a theme this week unlike the second and third edition, just excellent looking ladies whose styles I adore. If you are looking for more style inspirations, you can check them below (I've included links to their individual blog sites):

Jessica of Fashion Life | Shannon of GBO Fashion | Crystal & Sue Anne of The Sixth Tractate | Emily of a Devine Life | Amanda of 2 Girls in 2 Cities

Which look was your favorite?

Style Crush: Blogger Faves #3

I can't believe that this edition of my blogger favorites is already on its third... I mean, it's been fun checking different blogger styles and lusting over gorgeous shoes, dress, what have you. But this week might have to be the toughest one yet. All these gorgeous fashion bloggers have really stepped up their game as far as fashion styling is concerned.

For this week, I subconsciously picked out styles that had a recurring theme - stylish and colorful bottoms! Last time out, there were cute dresses and skirts that were the perfect homage to the season. This week, though, is all about simple yet sophisticated styles.

Without further adieu, I introduce to you my favorite fashion blogger styles this past week. Enjoy!

Do you know any of these fashionistas? Which look was your favorite?
