How to Wear Plaid Pants

Top: Shein
Pants: Shein
Shoes: Steve Madden (sold out - similar)
Earrings: Kenneth Jay Lane

I loved the first Wifey top I got from Shein so much that I got this V-neck tee version too. It came out perfectly and the fabric is comfy as can be. In the same week, I also got the latest package from Shein with this plaid pants. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when placing my order. I've never tried buying pants from Shein before and I've always read reviews of the pants sizing being too small. I opted for the plaid print because it has that classic touch to it despite being somewhat of a trendy piece.

I decided to wear the pants with my new Wifey tee. It is a casual and corporate chic look, especially since I've paired it with my red pumps from Steve Madden. The pants look amazing, but not without some minor issues in terms of sewing quality. Other than that, I was pretty impressed with the type of fabric and love how it feels worn.

Style Tip: And now for the style tip, you can wear plaid pants like I did here. Wear one piece of plaid at a time to keep your outfit from looking overwhelmingly busy. As you can see here, I opted for a solid colored top so the plaid pants become the focal piece of the outfit. Another tip that you can incorporate is to choose a piece of clothing within the same color palette as the plaid piece you are wearing. In this case, I paired the black and white pants with a dark blue (almost black from afar) to provide symmetry with the color scheme.

Plaid Perfection

There are many ways to wear plaid and the advent of various plaid styles only opened up more styling possibilities. From oversized plaid coats to flannel shirts, there are more plaid pieces now available to shop than ever. But if there is one thing I love most about wearing plaid is that it has the ability to add subtle sophisticated to a look. And since it is associated with fall and winter fashion, it adds a cozy vibe to your outfit too! It is also easy to style with various pieces to transition from date to night, like a classic plaid shirt.

Check out these plaid pieces that I found that you can incorporate into your outfit all-year round:

Plaid Chiffon Maxi Dress
Plaid Midi Dress
Casual Plaid Shirt Dress
BB Dakota Plaid Shirt Dress
Ruffled Plaid Top
Black & White Plaid Button-Up Top
Navy Blue Plaid Button-Up Top
Blue Plaid Flannel Top
Tartan Plaid Shawl
Sleeveless Long Plaid Vest

Plaid Midi + Lace-Up Espadrilles

In the summer time, I like to keep my style easy and laid back. It starts with choosing pieces that are made of lightweight materials like this flowy plaid midi dress from BB Dakota. I have wanted a shirt dress for so long but I could not find the style that I want. This button front midi dress is the next best thing to a shirt dress. Even though I am a maxi lover at the core, I have gotten to appreciate midi dresses as of late. They are proving to be as versatile as maxi dresses are in terms of being able to dress them up or down. I got the dress in small but it appears longer to me as I am petite.

Lace-Up Espadrilles: Soludos
Watch: JORD (c/o)

To complete my casual summer look, I need an equally comfortable pair of shoes. And what better type of shoe to wear than espadrilles? I've been seriously lusting over all kinds of espadrilles this season - espadrille flats, lace-up espadrilles, wedges espadrilles, and so on. This pair from Soludos (and it's only $55) was the ultimate choice because it is versatile enough to be paired with a few other summer pieces in my closet. It's a must-have if you are looking for a new pair!

The Perfect Plaid

Finally! I've searched high and low for the perfect plaid top and the search has come to an end. I was inspired to get this purple plaid top after seeing it on Amy Ann of Straight A Style, which is one of my favorite bloggers by the way! (love her!!) She got hers from Oasap (also a favorite shop of mine) and I got this one from Shein

The use of purple on a plaid top is slightly unexpected but it totally works. I love the effortless chic and modern lumberjack vibe that this top exhibits. I decided not to go too crazy with styling this one - skinny jeans and pointed pumps did the work for me! As of now, I can tell that I'd be getting a lot of wear for this top.
