A denim on denim look might be a classic trend. However, it can be a tricky beast. I have seen it on other fashion bloggers and celebrities but I never dared wear this trend... until now. When I got this ruffled denim off shoulder top from Twinkledeals, I instantly had this denim on denim look in mind. I am not embarrassed to admit it either that this has been my go-to outfit lately.

One of the reasons why it took me so long to give this trend a try is because I wasn't quite sure how to pull it off. But over many years of studying trends and taking fashion inspirations from fellow bloggers, I have come to the realization that the key to pulling off the denim on denim look is through balance. In this outfit, for example, I paired the classic blue denim ruffled top with an edgier pair of distressed black skinny denim. Plus, there is something about distressed denim that works so well with a denim on denim style. But if you want to rock the double denim trend like a true 'it' fashion girl, you can go for one denim piece (such as a denim top or jacket) that has embellishments on it, like fur accents or embroidery. Small details add something fun to the classic staples that we all have come to love and rely on!

Another trick that I have incorporated with this double denim look is the addition of the unexpected but fun accessories. Case in point: my red tassel earrings. Not only does it add a fun element to the look but it also brings a pop of color.

4 Reasons This Top is a Summer Must-Have!

OUTFIT DETAILSTop c/o Yoshop
Pants from Shein
Fringe Bag c/o Twinkledeals
Earrings c/o Rosegal
Heels from Mendrez

Off shoulder has been on the top of the fashion scene for a while now. When it first made its way into the market, I couldn't help gushing about it. A year later, it is still very much visible and sought after in the fashion industry, whether you are a blogger or not. But if there is one other trend that I cannot get enough of, it's the statement sleeve trend. Specifically, I love how bell sleeves add to ANY outfit...

The triad of my favorite things to wear makes this top one of my new favorites: floral, bell sleeves and off shoulder! Yoshop easily won me over with this one! But let me tell you exactly why it's worth the investment:

1 - Classic Floral Print. If you still only wear floral in the summer or spring, you have some catching up to do. It is a classic print that can be worn any time of the year! With the classic floral print on this top, it is so easy to transition even on cooler months!

2. Comfortable Fit. While I do love off shoulder tops, I hate it when the garter around the shoulders are too tight that they slide up, causing me to constantly have to pull the top down. I haven't encountered any of these issues with this top thus far.

3 - Versatile. It is versatile, as most other floral pieces are! I dressed it up a little in this look with the heels but I can also picture myself wearing it with shorts or sandals!

4 - Affordable! You wouldn't believe how much I got this top for! It is such a good deal considering how beautiful the print is and how comfortable it is to wear!

What is your favorite trend for summer?

I am having a yellow moment right now. It is one of those colors that I tend to wear more in the summer time than any other time of the year. The case is true this year especially with primrose yellow cited by Pantone as one of the top colors for Spring/Summer 2017. I love how the color adds a pop of brightness to an outfit. Plus, it does not hurt that it is such a "feel good" hue. It might sound cliche but it does bring a sunny statement to your summer style.

Aside from yellow, one thing that I am loving right now all the time is floral. Will I ever get enough of floral? Probably not. Will it ever go out of trend? Probably not, especially since I don't consider it a trend. The idea of wearing floral for spring/summer isn't something I consider as "trendy", it's right there with stripes as one of the classic style pieces for the season. It will have its own shining moments in fashion history but it will never be out of style. The wide variety of floral prints to choose from and color combinations provide it with added versatility, such as a black floral maxi dress and this bright floral dress. These two can create such different looks for your summer style.

On a different topic, I just booked us a flight later this year to a popular tropical destination in the country. I won't share it yet but this dress would be the perfect outfit to pack for that trip! Can you guess where the hubby and I are headed to?

Tie-Front Is Love

Anyone here agree with the title of this post? I don't know what is it about tie-front details that appeal to me. But I figure it's probably the casual appeal it adds to an outfit. This top from Dresslily wasn't exactly a tie-front top but I decided to undo some of the buttons at the bottom to be able to tie them together. It is fun to reinvent pieces from your wardrobe and create a totally different look than what it is designed for.

This top wasn't a favorite of mine when I first got it. I got it initially because I loved the color. But I'm slowly warming up to it especially as I discover new ways to wear it. But this one is my favorite styling idea yet. I'm pretty sure this won't be the last time that I will be sporting this look... but will probably switch out the heels for a pair of strappy sandals or flip flops!

What are your thoughts on tie-front details? Love it or hate it?

Chambray for Spring

OUTFIT DETAILS
Dress (c/o) / Bag (c/o) / Watch (c/o) / Earrings (c/o) / Shoes (c/o)

Chambray for spring is not a fashion breakthrough, just like floral is. But they are called staples for a reason. Hence, I am excited to share this look because it showcases the quintessential spring/summer vibe that I have always striven for. I have had a few chambray dresses over the years but this is undoubtedly my favorite yet. Find out why below...

If there is anything that I like equally as chambray, it's the small but unique details that make a simple piece stand out. In this case, the cut-out and bow tie front combine to make a feminine dress look extra cute but not in a cheesy way. I've always loved pairing feminine pieces together but with this one, the dress is all you need to create a decidedly feminine look because of the cutout front and that bow.

The front placement of the button makes it super easy to put on this dress too. And as you can see from one of my photos, the back is also stretchable so it has quite a forgiving fit. Yet another reason to love Chicwish - this dress is a masterpiece in its simplicity. You can get yours for less than $51!

If you are looking for other chambray pieces to add to your spring wardrobe, here are some of my picks from Chicwish:
