MAC Please Me Review

via

Any MAC lipstick lover? Raise your hand. I confess - I am obsessed with collecting MAC lipsticks. I've collected quite a few and most are red shades. However, I picked up a new one that is slightly different than what I'm used to but I loved as equally: Please Me.

Please Me is a warm pink shade with a matte finish. This has got to be my favorite pink shade yet! I'm still looking for a blue-based pink lip color but for now, this one will do. On the tube, the pink might appear darker and brighter. But when you apply it to your lips, it is actually much lighter. The upside to this shade is that while it may be light, it is quite attention-seeking and gives a fresh vibe to your face. This is my go-to for when I want a simple but polished makeup look.

Please Me is a winner when it comes to beauty effect and ease of application. Remember, it is matte though. Make sure you keep your lips slightly hydrated before application to keep your lips from becoming dry (especially if you have naturally dry lips prone to chapping).

MAC Craving: Review

A burst of plum. This is how MAC Craving is described on MAC's website. And I can hardly argue with that. For the most part of December 2014, I was seeing a lot of beauty bloggers showcasing all kinds of fall lipstick shades and I was quite envious because I wanted to give the plum shade a try but not sure if it would fit into my usual style (I am best known for my red and pink lipstick!). But I finally caved in to my curiosity... I added MAC Craving to my growing lipstick collection.

What is to love about MAC Craving?

This shade is raved about by bloggers as the perfect shade for fall or winter. But even though we don't have winter here, I decided to purchase this anyway given that I have long been wanting to try out a plum lipstick. I decided to go with Craving because beauty experts suggested giving this shade a try if you are testing the waters with plum lipstick shades and not daring enough to go for a deep berry shade right away.

MAC Craving belongs in the Amplified Creme finish line that offers a creamy texture when applied on the lips. There is a subtle gloss to the finish. If you want to use this lipstick for evening wear, you can definitely try adding a few more swatches to achieve that dark plum color

Since this isn't a matte finish, Craving does not last very long although it offers enough staying power (good for about 4 hours, based on my experience). But even when they fade away, it leaves that soft stain on your lips that gives it a natural looking blush on your lips.

If you're too scared to jump onto plum lipstick shades right away, I suggest you try MAC Craving first!

Maybelline So Nude Lipstick in NU37

I've been contemplating this for a long time but I finally caved in: I bought my first nude lipstick. And what better way to try it than with Maybelline's Color Sensational So Nude line. To be specific, I picked up the NU37 lipstick, which is a beautiful pink nude that comes with a creamy finish.

When I tried my first swatch of NU37, I knew my search has come to an end. It turns out I was not about ready to fully step out of my comfort zone yet - the lipstick has hints of pink to it for a light and fresh look. I like that the lipstick applies very easily; in fact, it just glides on your lips. The color can be very light though so I had to do a few swatches in order to get that pink glow to my lips. But the good thing is that it does not fade easily. It really does stay on the lips for a long time.

The only downside is that it has a sticky texture when you apply it. However, I feel like the stickiness helps to give more staying power to the lipstick.

Apparently, the So Nude line is a limited edition and there are only four other shades to choose from.

Have you tried any of the So Nude lipsticks from Maybelline? If so, what are your thoughts?

Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Viva

If you are on a beauty budget, I recommend Ever Bilena for their good quality, safe but reasonably priced items. I have blogged about this brand in the past (you can read it here and here). Their range of matte lipstick, in particular, is a favorite because they are long lasting and not as drying on the lips as most other matte lipsticks I've tried. (sorry about the photo because this is an old stock and just decided to do a review now)

The Viva matte lipstick is a light pink shade that provides a soft and sweet finish to your lips. I don't like wearing lip balm underneath my lipstick so a couple of swatches tend to look light. The good news is that it is a perfect shade for everyday look, or work wear. It provides just the right amount of blush without being too overpowering.
