B&W Chic

Houndstooth is, and will always be, one of my favorite patterns to wear. Ever. I love the simple sophistication that the pattern brings to an outfit. Hence, this pencil skirt that I am showcasing on the blog today is an all-time favorite simply because it requires little to no styling. In fact, I love this look that I have for you here because it speaks about the kind of style that I always strive for - simple elegance.

I bought this black ballerina top from HerBench and decided to pair it with the skirt for a B&W look. A pair of statement earrings helped to break the monotony in the color. Meanwhile, the neutral heels added a touch of glam to the outfit.

Are you also into houndstooth print?

September Remix: Houndstooth Love

For this month's first edition of style remix, I am going to showcase another way I've styled one of my favorite skirts that I've bought - this houndstooth pencil skirt. Houndstooth was a huge trend in 2013 so when I saw this skirt, I was sold! But that's not just because of the trend, I've been secretly loving this pattern since I saw Emma Stone sport this Ferragamo houndstooth pumps.

It exudes a vintage-y and art noir feel to the look. But I had been sporting this skirt for casual styles like this one I am going to showcase today. This flowy top provides a contrast to the chic and sophisticated look of the skirt as it comes with a free-spirited feel to it. But I love combining these two elements together. I can tell you, this won't be the last time that I will sport this combo.

Do you have a forgotten favorite in your closet?

February Style Remix {Houndstooth}

Quality buys for me signify items that I can remix and re-wear. I might have impulsive tendencies when it comes to shopping but I had put in my best effort to keep my shopping habits to within reasonable means.

This houndstooth skirt is one of my favorite purchases from last year. It's a favorite because I'm obsessed with the pattern (the topmost reason) but also because it is comfortable and can be styled plenty of ways. That is what I love about B&W patterns.

This look for the day was a cross between casual and sexy. This buttoned down top is a good investment for me. I can style it in 10 different ways and you would not even realize I am wearing the same top. Check two other ways I've styled it here and here

I opted to style my hair in a bun to elicit a carefree vibe to the look.

How's it going where you are? xx

Houndstooth & Peplum

I have a penchant for being a little behind on most fashion trends. When I see something that celebs wear and I like it, I don't jump right away and get my own piece. I try to test the waters first, so to speak. I am fully aware that trends come and go. Hence, I wanted to make sure that a particular trend would suit me (and look good on me) before being on board with it.

Such is the case with peplum. I had been eyeing it for some time and love it on celebrities that I've seen wear them. I was initially worried that it might not work for a petite girl like me. But it was too irresistible for a trend to pass up.

If you think that this peplum top looks familiar, well it's because I've already featured it here. No shame there. I love it, what can I do?

And you know what's one other thing I'm obsessed with right now? Houndstooth! I love this pattern. Love it with a passion! I am not usually all rave about B&W patterns but there is something about houndstooth that takes me back to Audrey Hepburn's era. Simple, sophisticated and classic. That's my kind of style. This, by the way, is my outfit of choice during my birthday lunch with the family.

What's your favorite trend lately?
