Holiday Gift Guide: Jewelry

Giving jewelry as a gift is a time-honored tradition. In this time of the holiday season, it is a good gift idea to consider if you are simply out of ideas. It is thoughtful, practical and luxurious. If you are looking for jewelry that will appeal to any personality or age, you will find many options at Lajerrio.

If you are gifting a special someone, one of the best types of jewelry that you can give are promise rings. It is essentially a symbol of commitment between couples. It should not be confused with an engagement ring. It is simply a physical object that symbolizes devotion to each other. As the name implies, wearing it symbolizes that you are agreeing to a promise that you have made to each other.

If you think this is a good gift idea, here are a few promise rings to choose from that impress in style:

Rose Gold Art Deco 3 Piece Set
White Sapphire Silver Titanium Ring
Rose Gold Matching Couple Rings
Emerald Cut Ruby Cocktail Ring
Gold Titanium Promise Ring for Couples

Do you like to give jewelry as gifts? What type of jewelry do you like to give during the holiday season (or on special occasions)?

How to Decorate Your Home for the Halloween

Growing up, I was never really a Halloween kind of girl. I prefer Christmas and New Year! But since I was able to attend a few Halloween parties in my previous job, I have come to enjoy all of the fun activities that go with it. In particular, I love decorating for Halloween and dressing up with various costume ideas. It is fun and provides a venue to unleash your inner kid. Since I haven't been to Halloween parties as I was growing up, it might be fun to do it as an adult.

If you are keen to get on with the Halloween spirit, I've included some of the fun home decor ideas from Rosegal that I've stumbled upon.

Dresses to Bring On Your Next Vacation

V-Neck Tribal Print Bell Sleeve Dress / V-Neck Printed Maxi Dress / Off Shoulder Bodice Maxi Dress / Floral Printed Maxi Dress / Fringe Side Slit Maxi Dress
A week ago, I just booked the hubby and I a trip to a tropical vacation destination. I won't spill details yet but as with everything I do, I am already planning ahead (even though it's still a few months away). Despite the fact that I've traveled for quite a few times already, I've earned the rep as a serial over-packer. The husband and I both agree to always bring carry-on luggage (because we both hate the queue on the baggage claim). While I am certainly no light packer yet, I think I've gotten better at it. For a tropical destination, packing cute dresses is a no-brainer. One advantage to this is you can save space since you are bringing just one piece instead of a top and bottom. Plus, summer dresses tend to be of lighter fabric such as cotton or chiffon. You can save a lot of space if you roll them in your luggage because they are not bulky. The dresses that I've linked above are just a few of those that I have my eye on from Fashionmia - one of the websites that I shop for for trendy but affordable pieces. They are one of my go-to's online because I have had a few excellent products based on my own shopping experience.

Here are just a few of the Fashionmia pieces that I've styled in the past. Which of these do you think should I bring with me on my next trip?

I've purchased quite a few items (mostly dresses) from Fashionmia and I have been quite satisfied with what I got. As with most of these overseas shops, it is always critical to check the sizing details and read the reviews from customers so you can assess the quality of the items! You can find a wide range of options from all kinds of dresses, outerwear, and plus size clothing from the website.

Have you got tips to pack light for a tropical vacation? I could use some of them so leave them in the comments below!

5 Must-Haves: Chic and Contemporary Bathroom

Since we purchased our new home, I've enjoyed the process of buying furniture, decorating and styling. It is not a cheap venture, which is probably why we've taken it slow and steady. If you are in the same stage as we are, you know how difficult but rewarding this process can be. But if there is one aspect of the home that I feel most special about, it would be the bathroom. Like the kitchen, it is one of the most functional rooms in the house. While most homeowners would think last of the bathroom when it comes to decorating the home, I am different. Bathroom for me is the most essential. You need to double your effort at keeping it clean and beautiful. I want it to be a refuge for respite and relaxation.

If you agree with me, then you have come to the right place. I have partnered with Maykke to bring you my must-have pieces to decorate and furnish your bathroom with. It is important to strike a balance between style and functionality when it comes to furnishing accessories and fixtures for your bathroom. Thankfully, there are a wide range of modern styles available in the market right now that would make this possible, whatever your budget may be. No need to compromise!

Let's get on with my list...

Freestanding Bathtub

71" Clara Freestanding Tub / 60" Cast Iron Tub

Freestanding bathtubs are one of the must-have essentials in a modern bathroom. It is chic and contemporary. It also delivers longevity and versatility in terms of its use as a style element to your bathroom. You can go for an acrylic tub for a modern and minimalist look, or cast iron clawfoot tubs for a vintage look. You are free to move it around to whichever placement you think would enable you to maximize space and style, a luxury which you won't be able to enjoy with a built-in bathtub.

Bathroom Vanity

36" Dani Vanity Set / 48"Cecilia Vanity Set

The vanity, like the bathtub, can be the focal point in your bathroom decor. The style options available with a bathroom vanity set has greatly evolved from being a place for storage and organization to offer a touch of elegant style to this room.

Faucet and Sink

Three Piece Faucet, Polished Chrome / Livingston Vessel, Beige Travertine

The bathroom faucets and sink are two essential fixtures in the bathroom because they serve a function. But with the new range of styles available, they can also add a dramatic touch to the bathroom style with the right choice of material and finish.

Bathroom Mirror

Framed Wall Mirror / Round LED Mirror

Bathroom mirrors are truly an essential when it comes to adding fixtures into this space. However, a mirror serves more than just to make sure that you are getting your makeup right - it is also a stylistic addition to your bathroom. With the addition of handsome finishes to polished metals, and mirrors of various shapes and sizes, you are guaranteed to find one that will suit your bathroom style.

Shelves/Racks

Soma Glass Shelf / Soma Towel Rack

Storage is one aspect about your bathroom that you should never neglect. Thankfully, the options of shelves and racks provide you with chic designs that incorporate well into contemporary bathroom styles. Hence, you do not have to compromise aesthetic for function!

Which of these bathroom accessories and fixtures do you need to decorate yours? Head on over to Maykke for luxury bathroom furnishing at affordable pricing.

#GirlBoss: Doe Deere of LimeCrime

via

Once in a while, a female chases after her goals and makes a difference in a society that is still largely male-centric. Isn't it surprising that in this modern day and age we are still amazed that a woman can excel in her chosen field? Hence, I thought about starting a series called #GirlBoss - I know it's not original but I was inspired to be able to showcase female influencers who chased after their dreams and turned them into goals. I'm all about building the fem-pire and inspiring fellow women to do better than what's expected of them. I know it's a little late for International Women's Day but we could all use some inspiration from time to time, right?

Such is the case with Doe Deere, the CEO and Founder of a popular cosmetics brand, LimeCrime. Before the Kylie Cosmetics became a sensation, there was LimeCrime who innovated a brand that empowered women to not only use makeup as a tool to conceal imperfections but also to express your freedom and individuality.

Case in point: the LimeCrime lipstick range that introduced unconventional color options. Aside from the usual reds, pinks and nudes, she introduced mystical colors to the beauty industry via her own beauty line. In fact, the first slogan used by the brand was "It's so bright, it's illegal." It speaks volumes about her personality and how she has used her brand and stayed consistent with her exuberant sense of style.

Despite the controversy that hit the brand sometime in 2015 with the data breach for its customer information following a website hacking activity, the brand has managed to get back on its feet again. The company's legal and customer support department was also hit with backlash for not handling the case well. Even Doe Deere herself did not evade the wrath of the customers; she too was bullied and attacked online.

Whether you like the LimeCrime brand or not, it's hard not to respect and look up to Doe Deere who dared pursue her dreams. For someone who started out small, she could be an inspiration for most of us. That you can achieve success on your own terms. To this day, she frequently uses her own voice to inspire other women, especially entrepreneurs, to build their own path to business success. In fact, on her Instagram, she encourages people to reach out to her for advice!

Who is your femspiration (aka a woman who has inspired you to pursue your ambitions)?

DIY Projects: How to Make Your Own Invitations

via

In case you didn't know, we did our own invites for our wedding! We did not want to scrimp on other services like the photographer, videographer and caterer. But with wedding invitations, we felt like it was something that we can take on by ourselves and come up with something creative so we can stick to our budget. With a little help from our creative friends, we managed to pull it through! In fact, many of our guests could not believe it when we told them that we did our own invites!

If you have creative skills then you can certainly go for it, whether you are creating beautiful baby shower invitations for girls, kids or adults birthday invitations, or save the date cards - you will find the experience fun and extra special.

Set Your Budget

Before you take on any project, it is important to determine your budget. This will impact various other aspects of your project such as choosing the type of paper you use, the extent of the design and the types of materials you use for decoration.

Use a Basic Template

You can use the internet to research on basic invite templates. You can use them as jump-off point for creating your own designs. Starting off with a pre-made template will make your job easier as you simply have to add in the specific details of the design you want.

Get Creative

This is the most fun yet trickiest part! It is easy to get carried away when decorating. Learn to practice design control such that you only add in what is necessary. A poorly designed invite is just as bad as an overly done invite. You must know how to evaluate your own work.

Thankfully, there are plenty of services these days that enable you to order pre-made or customized invitations online. This is a lifesaver for anyone like me who do not trust their own creative skills. All you have to do is select from several design options to suit the occasion and the theme. You can personalize the details and additional finishes to give it a personalized touch. It's the easiest way to achieve a professional-looking invite without the cost!

Whatever your wedding theme is, you can find plenty of ideas for beautiful DIY wedding invitations. You can check out some of the designs you can make for different occasions below:

StyleWe 101: How to Style Mini Skirt for Fall/Winter

With the prospect of colder weather, are you starting to wonder what to do with your mini skirts? Or is it appropriate to wear them at all? With the rising popularity of the latest fashion micro skirts, it becomes increasingly important to find fashion-forward ways to wear them all year round. It not only helps you save (since you no longer have to purchase new seasonal items) but you can also get more wear out of the current pieces in your wardrobe.

Here are some fashionable mini skirts that I found from a fashion shopping store called StyleWe. This website features creations from independent designers and their inventory is quite massive. Hence, you should find a skirt that you'd love to wear all winter long. Below are some of my top picks:

Deep Grey A-Line Buttoned Mini Skirt / Polyester A-Line Mini Skirt / Fringed Vintage Mini Skirt / Black Sheath Mini Skirt
Meanwhile, here are three fun ways you can wear a mini skirt for fall and winter:

Tip 1: Add thoughtful accessories to help you stay warm and look fashionably chic. Think in the line of over-the-knee boots and a head gear (such as a beret or beanie). These fun accessories will elevate a mundane look (aka sweater and skirt combo).

Tip 2: Layer it up with a coat or blazer. If you can find a faux fur layering piece, that's even better. The textural contrast will make the simple elements stand out, not just individually but as a unit. For a more chic touch, you can try adding a scarf into the mix too.

Tip 3: Throw in your tights! Keep those legs warm by layering your skirt with tights and adding some heels or ankle booties into the mix!

What is your favorite way to wear a skirt this season? Be sure to check out StyleWe on Facebook and read their blog to get more styling tips!
