How to Dress Up Shorts

Before I start, allow me to greet you all a Merry Christmas! We had a wonderful celebration at home - it was the first time that we got to celebrate Christmas Eve at our new home. Hope you had a blast just like we did! I am going to share this pre-scheduled post with you while I gorge on leftover food from last night. #sorrynotsorry

I've always been of the opinion that red and leopard is a classic combo! I am therefore drawn to this pairing and it never gets old for me. The vibrant red with the statement leopard print is a nice way to elevate a simple look, such as this one that pairs a simple V-neck shirt from Shein with shorts from Choies.

Even though shorts are known as casual items, there are plenty of ways to dress it up. Dressing up shorts is definitely easier than you think, and you don't always have to pair it with heels just so you can elevate the style. If you're like me who hates wearing high heels all the time, listen up to these tips.

My first idea is to pair the look with statement earrings. In this outfit, I am wearing my blue tassel earrings from Adia Kibur. Do not be afraid to make a big statement with your earrings! Even when you are wearing a simple top (like I did here), don't hold back when it comes to your earrings because this will add that style statement you need.

Another way to dress up your shorts is to add some sparkle. In this case, I used my metallic clutch from CNDirect to add a layer of sparkle. I'm sure you can find a dressy clutch in your closet somewhere so add that into your outfit for an unexpected detail. Aside from your clutch, you can also add other sparkly accessories to complement your shorts outfit (such as a belt or blazer).

Flower Power

Pants: Lee Jeans

Tote: Deux Lux c/o Shopbop
Watch: JORD (c/o)
Earrings: Adia Kibur c/o Shopbop

The off-shoulder is unquestionably the biggest trend of the season. I am a huge fan of this trend - there is basically no off-shoulder piece (dress or top) that I've seen that I did not love. So I decided that I should try it out for myself, too. I was lucky enough to find this gorgeous floral off-shoulder top from Shein. I knew that if I was going to get one that it would be a floral print and seeing that this was less than $10, I couldn't have added this to my cart fast enough.

I wanted for the top to be the focal point of this look so I wore it with my classic skinny jeans, a basic black tote and my reliable JORD watch. A pop of color from my Sam Edelman Rae suede flats provided a great balance in color and texture to the outfit. Love this top? Make sure to get it while it is still available for only $7!

Rosegal Lavender Crochet Dress

Dress: Rosegal (c/o)
Clutch: old
Shoes: Steve Madden c/o Shopbop
Earrings: Adia Kibur c/o Shopbop

Let's talk about Rosegal for a second... This was my first time to order anything from this website but I am impressed. It's one of many websites that offer affordable and trendy pieces but it is among the best (in my opinion). I got this lavender crochet dress to consider for a wedding that I am going to attend soon. I have had my eye on this dress from another website but saw it at a more affordable price at Rosegal so I decided it was the most opportune moment to get my hands on it.

As you can see, the dress is as beautiful as it was on the website. I love the color too. One of the reasons why I was drawn to it is because I felt that I did not have enough lavender pieces in my closet. This dress would considerably expand the color wheel in my wardrobe. Plus, the material is thick, heavy and looks durable for its price! I spotted a couple of loose threads but these are minor issues compared to the overall quality of the dress. I wanted to up the chic factor of this look by pairing the dress with my reliable Steve Madden red pumps and red chain clutch bag. You've seen this pairing before in this Classic Combo post, but I also felt this combo would look great with this dress.

Have you shopped Rosegal before? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Meanwhile, you can follow Rosegal on Facebook and Instagram.
