When it comes to shopping for cocktail dresses, I prefer short dresses and those with a fit-and-flare style. They are the ones that can be easily transitioned into more casual outfits so that you can get more wear out of your cocktail dress. For special occasion wear, it is always an issue of practicality. Like most women, I would not want to invest a lot of money on a dress that I probably won't wear again (or at least not too often).

For this look, I decided to dress it up with a pair of nude ankle strap heels and statement necklace. But I also plan on wearing it with a pair of strappy flat sandals or even sneakers!

Valentine's Day might be over but romance is still in the air. This pink hollow out flare dress from Shein is giving me that vibe, at least. The moment I saw this dress on the website, I couldn't get myself to not buy it especially at only $27. If you have been a regular reader, then you know that Shein is one of my favorite places to shop for online. I know a lot of women who would refuse to wear pink. Not me - I like all kinds of pink. Hot pink, blush, peach, old rose and coral are just a few of my favorites. In fact, I convinced my husband to make peach one of our wedding motifs for our big day (peach and mint were our wedding colors). Thus, I envisioned wearing this dress to a special date night with him. The Coziest Cardigan Coat

I have zero tolerance for the cold weather. Since I live in the tropics, I have never been used to the cold and would probably won't survive a day somewhere with snow (although I still would want to see snow someday). For those extra cold days though, I am glad I can stay warm with my favorite outerwear: cardigan. I love that there are so many options to choose from whether you are looking for light or thick layers.

I've previously talked about my new favorite coat from Fashionmia here. This is another cold weather essential that I love and grab on for those days when I need extra warmth. This material is unbelievably cozy and for someone who gets cold easily, it's a lifesaver! 

The color is another reason why I regard this cardigan as my trusty outerwear. The beige hue is a neutral and I love incorporating neutrals into my wardrobe because I find them easier to work with in terms of trying out different outfit combinations. If you happen to get a peek into my closet, you'll find a kaleidoscope of colors and prints. A neutral outerwear is therefore a great way to tone those colors and prints down.

Paisley is not a pattern or print that you would normally associate with holiday glam looks. Hence, I wanted to come up with ways in which I can glam it up a little to make it fit for the holidays - since after all, I'm trying to showcase holiday-inspired looks for the blog this month! As it turns out, it does not take much to elevate simple dresses like this to make it fit for your holiday parties or a glam NYE party.

This paisley print dress is made of a soft cotton fabric. I initially bought it for casual use because it feels so comfortable on. To dress it up a little, you need a pair of statement heels. This one is from Twinkledeals and it is super affordable. The suede exterior gives it a cool-chic vibe to it. Meanwhile, a statement necklace like this favorite of mine from Mod & Soul can easily dress up any outfit.

For this holiday season, if you're not too keen on buying party dresses that you won't have much use for, I suggest you try it with some of your existing dresses in your wardrobe. An accessory or two (my favorites are statement necklaces -or earrings- and statement heels) can go a long way in terms of making a simple dress look party-ready!
