Paisley is not a pattern or print that you would normally associate with holiday glam looks. Hence, I wanted to come up with ways in which I can glam it up a little to make it fit for the holidays - since after all, I'm trying to showcase holiday-inspired looks for the blog this month! As it turns out, it does not take much to elevate simple dresses like this to make it fit for your holiday parties or a glam NYE party.

This paisley print dress is made of a soft cotton fabric. I initially bought it for casual use because it feels so comfortable on. To dress it up a little, you need a pair of statement heels. This one is from Twinkledeals and it is super affordable. The suede exterior gives it a cool-chic vibe to it. Meanwhile, a statement necklace like this favorite of mine from Mod & Soul can easily dress up any outfit.

For this holiday season, if you're not too keen on buying party dresses that you won't have much use for, I suggest you try it with some of your existing dresses in your wardrobe. An accessory or two (my favorites are statement necklaces -or earrings- and statement heels) can go a long way in terms of making a simple dress look party-ready!

From Rompers to Jumpsuits

My summer uniform - that is basically what I've dubbed rompers as. But when the weather transitions to become slightly colder, it is important to give an update to my so-called uniform. One way to do that is to update into a jumpsuit. I admit: I am slightly intimidated by the idea of wearing jumpsuits, but I also felt the same way about rompers initially. Hence, I am excited to finally give it a try especially after I've seen a few cute ones from Mod & Soul and StyleWe. In particular, StyleWe is one website that I just recently discovered and is now gaining attention in the world of online shopping. It's hard not to love this top from Sammydress. In the heat of the summer, I've turned to cami tops for relief. They are super easy to wear and style, plus ultra comfortable especially when dealing with intense heat. The pattern also caught my eye - I've talked about paisley as one of the top summer prints and while this is trendy, it has enough lasting power for me to wear it throughout the year (maybe layer it with a blazer or kimono on cooler months ahead).

To elevate this casual but chic look, a pair of blue denim jeans and strappy heels made the perfect finishing touch. My earrings from Mod & Soul is also the perfect finishing touch. I have a huge collection of maxi dresses but I did not realize until of late that I did not have a basic black maxi dress yet. This launched a major search for a black tank maxi dress. I have searched a few places and ended up getting it from Splendid via Shopbop. This ribbed maxi dress looks like the ideal maxi dress for a casual summer day - light, stretchy material and comfortable.

But I wanted to depart from the typical casual look and decided to dress up this ribbed maxi dress. I incorporated my new SoHo leather watch from RumbaTime and statement necklace from Mod & Soul to glam up the dress. The chambray offered a light layer for the dress, which I think would definitely come in handy for the summer nights. The length is a bit longer than I would like from a typical maxi dress that I would wear (of course, I had to factor in my petite size) but I actually like the floor length for a more glammed up look!

A pleated maxi skirt has been on my wishlist for some time now. I love how it can look so delicate and classy while being trendy too. I've previously talked about how pleats is one of the top trends for spring this year. Hence, I was inspired to put together this delicately feminine look when I got this blush pleated maxi skirt from CNDirect. The color is so feminine that I knew it called for an ultra feminine style, too.

I paired my skirt with this lace top that I initially got to use as a cover-up. But it paired beautifully with the layer skirt to create a formal and feminine look. Of course, adding in some statement earrings from Mod & Soul wouldn't hurt. I got this pair over the holidays and had been dying to re-wear them for a formal event.

Holiday Style: His & Hers

Today is going to be a fun one! I am excited to do something I've never done before - finally convince my boyfriend husband to step out from behind the lens and become a model for one day (just one, he says). I had fun doing this photoshoot with my husband because he's more of a natural in front of the camera than I am (yes, not ashamed to admit that). But I have something more exciting to share with you later (stick until the end of this post). Let's start off with my holiday look first. I wore this new Brenda Shop floral dress with my cream clutch bag from Ami Club Wear. Brenda Shop has an impressive selection of floral dresses (you can see my other floral dress that I got from the website here) and vintage pieces that are affordable and high quality. As you can see, it is a highly feminine and delicate dress, which was complemented well by the cream clutch bag from AMI Clubwear and my ankle strap heels. I decided to pair it with my Green Sandalwood Sully watch from JORD to introduce contrast and edge with the wide band watch. My husband's style is laid back and casual. You will often see him wearing cotton tees and polo shirts.
