Post-Gym Chic

I don't have a massive closet so it is always a challenge to come up with different ways to style the same set of clothes. Hence, I am shamelessly featuring the same top that I have featured here in the blog before. I can't help it - it's one of my faves because it's flowy and comfortable.

This particular outfit I wore after hitting the gym. I paired my patterned floral top from For Me with cuffed denim shorts and black sequined flats for a sexy yet chic post-gym look.

What's your typical post-gym outfit?

PS - Sorry for the slightly dark photos. My boyf tweaked the settings on the camera while taking these pics. I don't have a tan (though I wish!).

Pattern Play

Posts here, here & here
Wearing patterns is the simplest and most effective way to create an outfit that will stand out. With the right choice of pattern prints and pairing, you can make quite a style statement. However, there as many ways to style patterns as there is for it to go wrong. Here are 5 simple rules you should keep in mind at all times:

1. Mix patterns that belong to the same color palette. This is the most basic trick when combining patterns into your outfit. Choose patterns that belong to the same color hues to create a subtle yet daring look. It also stimulates the eye without losing its sense of being refined and polished.

2. Pick complementing patterns. The worst thing about mixing patterns is for it to overwhelm you. Thus, choose to wear patterns that complement each other. Experiment with different combinations to determine what works best together.

3. Avoid overly matching patterns and prints. Mixing patterns can be fun; but don't let yourself get too carried away. Wearing head-to-toe matching patterns is a little too overdone.

4. Incorporate some neutrals. This will enable the visual space of your outfit to be broken up. For instance, you can wear a solid colored top underneath a patterned blazer or stockings on your printed skirt.

5. Mix pattern/print sizes. To avoid the outfit being too loud, try to vary up the size of the print and pattern. Large prints should be paired with smaller prints to create balance. Choose one print to become to focal point and let the other one be a complimenting style element.

Below are some bright colored, patterned items I scoured online and launched a serious drool-fest:

Vanity Lust List for July

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links.

I am the most girly girl I know so naturally I always find myself browsing the makeup section whenever I'm at the mall. Red and rose pink lipsticks are my weakness, but I also like neutral colored eye shadow palettes from time to time. When Sigma Beauty stocks up on new items, I always check the site out because I am constantly looking for new colors/shades to add into my makeup kit. Here are my latest makeup finds:

Sheer and Skort

Trends that exhibit a feminine vibe is a weakness of mine. It's no wonder you can find lots of floral pieces, sheers, chiffons, and laces in my closet. I just can't get enough of them! In fact, I swear by wearing lace even when it's pass it's trend prime. Sheer, on the other hand, has been one of my enduring loves. When I bought this blue sheer polo top, I like wearing it with a wide range of bottoms because it is so versatile. But when I recently picked up this lace skort, I knew these two would look great together! I know it has been a while since the skort trend hit the scene but better late than never, right?

What's your take on the skort trend?

Style Crush: Blogger Faves

Since I joined blogger hops and fashion link-ups, I've been enjoying the opportunity to meet new fashion bloggers and get style inspirations. It also helps me to grow my network or get to know more blogger friends. My main reason for joining link-ups, though, is to get style ideas from other fashionistas! And I do get a huge dose of them on a weekly basis... it's become my latest addiction!

Aztec Prints / Birthday Celeb

I've been looking forward to the boyf's birthday since the start of June. That's just me. I always like to make things extra special for my loved ones during their birthdays or any other special occasion. However, there was nothing grandiose planned for this particular day. We just went to church and asked for blessings then headed for a mini food trip (hint: gelatos and cinnamon rolls!!).

After we're done munching on some guilt-ridden sweets, we picked up his customized cake that I had ordered specially for him. I knew he's crazy over UFC and martial arts so I thought it was a design concept that he'd appreciate. And he did!! The look on his face when we got the cake was pretty priceless. My day was made right there! But just when I thought my day couldn't get even better, we had seafoods dinner with his entire family and some cousins, too. Here are some pics of my outfit for that day, as well as a mini photo diary of how his special day went:

Tuesday Ten: Summer Shorts I'm Craving

Occasionally, I do indulge in my fashion inclinations and abandon my own comfort for the sake of, uhm, being fashionable. But thankfully, I don't always do that. Comfort (for me) is the most important aspect in dressing up. Thus, I always feel like I hit a jackpot whenever I stumble upon something that looks fashionable and feel comfortable to wear at the same time. It is also for this same reason why I prefer to wear shorts during weekends or casual outings. During summer months, I pretty much wear shorts almost everyday!

If you're also feeling the heat or simply want to stylishly bare your gams, here are some of the fantastic summer shorts I've dugged up:
